newlyweds...kind of.
people often tell me that i must only know beautiful people. one might think "that's impossible! how can she only know beautiful people?". well, i'm about to confirm it. i have the most beautiful clients in the world. here's proof:
these dear friends actually got married nearly three years ago. it had been a super cold day in december and they weren't able to get many pictures, so they asked me if they could dress up in their wedding clothes and do a shoot with them. i HIGHLY recommend this to brides and grooms everywhere! even if it's only a day after your wedding, it's so nice to do pictures on a day other than THE day. not all pictures, but some. it's much more relaxed and can actually be fun. not having to worry about the time, sore cheeks from smiling too much, bad weather....imagine that.
we actually got accosted by some dutch tourists during the shot above...they wanted to bring congratulations from holland for the lovely couple.
my clients are also funny. mildly disgusting, but funny.
and talented. all my clients are talented. we were in this field with the frame shooting the other direction and jenn was like "hey, what if we had the church in the background". no big deal...it just BLEW MY MIND!

the janzens
this family was really fun. so fun in fact, that at one point i think i suggested we take a picture with me in it, just in case they wanted to adopt me as an honorary member. they never really got back to me on that....they probably said yes and i just didn't hear it. yeah, that's it.
they hadn't done a family picture since the kids were young and when they did, it involved a tripod and a self-timer. i was so glad to be able to get them all together in one place for the afternoon, especially as all the kids are grown and leaving the nest soon.

the party
now this...was a party. when my first two kids turned one, they ate, they tore some paper, they cried, they stuffed cake in their face and they were in bed by 7:30. when sehaj turned one, he had a clown, bhangra dancers, a pinata, 200+guests, a fully catered buffet...he also cried, but he certainly wasn't in bed by 7:30. this...was a party.
you may recognize a particular white guy on the right doing his best to keep up...
more pictures to come...

i've been entering the i heart faces challenges these last few weeks and it's been fun to find pictures that match their topics. this week was "smirk" and i thought right away of my shoot with bev and anthony. it was their first anniversary and they were so relaxed...we had such a great time together!
angie and amy, the founders of i heart faces chose my picture as one of their favorites this week. thanks guys!

i heart faces...smirk
i love that this expression was totally unprovoked by me. bet you can guess what he was smirking about.
mr. sun?
this californian family just moved up to bc and were greeted by what seemed like non-stop rain. being from fresno, this has been a bit of a shock to the system! we didn't have a huge window of time to get these done as they are in preparation to be missionaries in asia and needed a picture for their prayer card. and so, on a very rainy afternoon, we ventured out to the park to find a covered spot. they were great sports and we even got to fit a little playtime in.
