i heart photojournalism

my entry for this week's theme...apparently batman needs to take a break for a little pb&j every once in awhile too. who knew?

full week

an emotional week.  big tears.  big laughs.  heavy, but light.  does that make sense?

i got to spend an amazing morning at the park with dear friends and their kidlets.
i got to celebrate an amazing little boy a week after we released his daddy to be with jesus.
i got to see an incredible woman and dear friend walk down the aisle.
i got to hang out at the beach for the afternoon with my best friend and incredibly handsome husband.
did i mention he's a super hero?
and did i mention i got my hair cut?  and "brunette-ed"?  it was a full week.

i heart faces submission

i love this picture.  the thing i love most is the fact that i know it was freezing cold and while the rest of us were bundled in towels, he was full out stripped down, waist deep in the frigid water having the time of his life.  that's beach fun.

marked improvement

at least this year it looks like he's smiling.  we haven't quite mastered sea turtle yet, but we will.  oh we will.  look out salamander...we're coming for you and your 3 seconds of unassisted back floating.

my first (hopefully of many) indian shoot!

i was chatting with a neighbor recently and realized she had quit her job to pursue a career in the hair and make-up artistry business.  right away we got to talking and decided to collaborate on a shoot highlighting her talents.  she brought two beautiful models fully decked out in indian wardrobe, one with a beautifully natural look and the other was highly dramatic.  before this i had never considered doing any fashion photography, but after this experience working with such wonderful people, i would definitely love to try it again!  jas gill is available for all occasions and has a "mobile salon" so she can come to you.  contact her at 778-549-1919 for an appointment.
our models, katie prasad & aman khera, were so lovely and accommodating...can't wait to work with all three of you ladies again!

it's a small world

this family literally came from around the globe for this picture.  we have representation from brazil, california and british columbia.  there was only a two hour window from when everyone arrived in town to when the sun was going down, so we had to make quick business of this shoot!  they did not disappoint...the kids were amazing!  and we even fit in an impromptu game of duck duck goose in the last few moments of light.

the vegts.

these guys just celebrated their second wedding anniversary and wanted to do some pictures just for fun.  i love that!!  cliff and i did that when we had been married a few years with a pro in vancouver...i'll have to dig one of those out of the archive for you.
anyway, i knew this was going to be a fun shoot when i mentioned trespassing and their response was "just tell us when and where".  from 80s sunglasses to face masks to sneaking kisses under elementary school stairs to chucking wildflowers to picking blackberries to the grand finale (a series of jumping shots) we pretty much did it all.
george peary thought this excavator had been set up for his big groundbreaking ceremony.  little did he know...
i'd laugh if a guy with those glasses was hitting on me too.
oh yeah, and did i mention greg is a magician?
